Tiwi Islands Book Launch Part 2: Into the Classroom

Launching two books; Ngaripirtangaya (Listening) and a board book of No Way Yirrikipayi in Tiwi.

In June 2021, a team from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation headed to Milikapiti Community on the Tiwi Islands in the Northern Territory to launch two books in Tiwi language.

This part of the story is set in the classroom. Tictac, ILF's Regional Coordinator in Tiwi, demonstrates how to use the QR code so the children can hear the book read in language. After reading to both the older and younger children, it is time for the ILF mainland team to head home.

Indigenous Literacy Day is proudly presented by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a charity with a vision of equity of opportunity for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children living in remote Australia.
